Global Initiative was started because we saw that a lot of issues in society today aren't receiving enough attention. It is important to educate ourselves and the world around us. People have to see pictures and statistics to even consider that these issues exist. Even if an issue doesn’t affect a person, it still affects others. There are numerous examples of this in the everyday world. The Yemen crisis which began in 2015 and has been going on for 5 continuous years.  Now due to this pandemic, Yemen is facing shortages in basic everyday necessities. Children in Yemen have to wonder if they shall even receive their next meal. They do not have access to basic healthcare facilities or education. Remember when you learned about concentration camps in your history class? Well, you will be shocked to know that concentration camps still exist in countries such as China, and many others. ICE is kicking out thousands of international students from the US. These are just a few of the numerous problems plaguing the Earth. But the public is choosing to ignore these issues and think that these problems shall go away on their own. People are willingly keeping their eyes and mouths "closed".  Global Initiative wants to help make a change. We shall take a stand for those who can't. We shall keep our eyes and mouths “open”, even if others don't.
